Samriddhi& Daksh Enhancing Programs on
Livelihood (SAMRIDDHI)
& Employability (DAKSH)

Livelihood and Employability of youth is a major National goal and TPCDT has in past 5 years consistently added value to realising this goal.

TPCDT plays a facilitative role in improving and strengthening the lives of rural and urban poor, through various initiatives under the livelihood development program in both farm and non-farm sectors.

The activities rolled out under the Skill Building theme include the following:

Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for the rural communities. Thus, to enhance the agriculture yield and its quality, and thereby increase the income of farmers, TPCDT has initiated "Sustainable Agriculture Program" designed especially for rural areas like Maval, Mulshi and Jojobera. Through this program seeds and saplings are distributed, training offered to farmers on best practices of agriculture, and facilitation of linkages with Government for subsidies related to fertilizers and pesticides. Efforts are made to build and strengthen village and farm related institutions to ensure long term sustainability.

The only factors restricting India from reaping its young demographic advantage are lack of skill and employment opportunities. In a bid to address this situation, TPCDT, in coordination with Tata Business Support Services (TBSS), established a BPO at Khopoli, Pune. This BPO aims to provide employment opportunity to the rural youth. Under this program, we select economically challenged youth from the rural areas, with a minimum qualification of Higher Secondary School. They then undergo special classes to enhance both their soft skills and software knowledge. Apart from that major projects like ITI, Male was established in 2011. The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Male, is the first-of-its-kind technical education institute in the region. It is the joint effort of the Mulshi Dharan Vibhag Shikshan Mandal and TPCDT. The Institute has a plethora of courses like Electrician, Electronics, Mechanic, Fitter, Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Welder, with an appreciable 80% placement rate.

Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) was inaugurated in 2015 with the objective of providing "Power Sector Skills" to community youth. It has fours centres in India. TPSDI Shahad (Mumbai) focuses on Electrical Transmission & Distribution skills. TPSDI Trombay (Mumbai) focuses on Power Plant and Solar skills, TPSDI - Mundra (Gujarat) focuses on Power Plant skills, Solar skills, TPSDI - Maithon (Jharkhand) focuses on Power Plant skills, Solar skills.
